Dance Mat and Instrument

Sonic Moves is a dancemat and instrument powered by BareConductive Touchboards and Soundplant. By engaging in playful instinctual movement, users can generate sound through movement. The active playful creativity can be beneficial for all, from kids to professional creatives. The colors and pattern are a graphic notation of the chromomatic scale allowing for simple songs to be played through exploration. The notation is heavily inspired by a pitch and color system created by Alexander Scriabin.

When used by a dancer, the mat to act as a creative tool for improvisation. It causes a reversal of the traditional creative process of dance which involves movements in reaction to sound where the mat creates sound in reaction to movement.
