I created visuals for College Music’s second complication Back on Track which features over forty artists including Cooking Soul, Tennyson, Conor Albert, and L’indecis. When I joined the team early Summer 2021, the theme and title were already chosen. “Back on Track” refers to nearing the end of the pandemic and being able to get together again. They needed the proper visuals to illustrate these ideas and also wanted to represent London and the neighborhood of Hackney, where the label’s office and studio are located. I visualized these ideas in the typography and artist list to create a narrative of traveling. In addition, I assisted with feedback and idea generation for the overall artwork as well as animation for the promotion assets and Spotify canvas.

The signage, or title typography, needed to match the illustration style and colors while representing London. Therefore, I took inspiration from old London street signs as well as Underground wayfinding signs. This showcases movement and the idea of reaching a destination.

We needed a creative and effective way to show the large number of artists as well as the order of appearance. I created a map replicating the London Underground Tube map where each stop is an artist and each train line is one side of a vinyl. This way the entire complilation takes you on a train journey that the map guides you through. You can navigate through the tracks in the same way you would navigate a trip. This concept was used in the social media posts to tease the release with singles.
